Child Services

The Child Services program at Cabell Huntington Hospital Counseling Center is dedicated to supporting the emotional and mental well-being of children and adolescents ages 5 to 18. We offer a compassionate and comprehensive approach to care, addressing a wide range of concerns including anger issues, behavioral problems, social skills development, grief and loss, separation anxiety and mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

We offer specialized group sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of children and their families, helping them navigate specific challenges together. In addition, we provide thorough testing and evaluations to assist in the diagnosis of conditions such as ADHD, IQ and academic achievement levels, and conduct assessments for bariatric procedures and DDS evaluations.

How Can We Help Your Child?
  • Teach your child how to recognize, name and express their emotions in healthy ways.
  • Offer a safe and supportive space where they can explore big feelings and learn to manage them as they grow.
  • Help them through life changes or challenges such as divorce, school transitions, friendship struggles, emotional expression, behavioral concerns, separation anxiety and anger.
How Can We Help You as a Parent?
  • Share helpful tools and resources tailored to what your child is experiencing.
  • Offer family therapy sessions to strengthen communication between you and your child.
  • Assist with referrals and consultations to other professionals who may benefit your child's overall care.
  • Coordinate with other providers (with your permission) to ensure your child's treatment is consistent and well-supported.

At every step, our goal is to provide children and their families with the tools and support they need to thrive.
